Bastion

Bastion is one of the heroes in Overwatch. It is an omnic wanderer formerly built to be a war combatant, who is now travelling to satisfy its curiosity about nature and leave its horrifying past behind.

Repair protocols and the ability to transform between stationary Sentry, mobile Recon and devastating Tank configurations provide Bastion with a high probability of victory.

While not much is known about Bastion’s personality, it’s clear that it displays consideration and curiosity towards the natural world and its creatures, as opposed to its fellow units which were determined to attack every human in sight during the Omnic Crisis. As an omnic, Bastion prefers non-populated areas due to people that may see it as a threat. Thoroughly, Bastion is shown to be a gentle and harmless robot that also possesses some fondness for Ganymede.

I found a recipe for Bastion's Omnic Oil Soup but found it wasn't quite what I wanted to create, so instead rebuilt the recipe from scratch using similar ingredients. Please note, this is not an oil soup. I have used a little bit of oil to cook the chicken and mushrooms in and have added chicken stock to make it look like Oil.

It is a delicate soup with immense flavouring and textures. I'm a big fan of pak choy and like to experiment different ways of cooking and eating it, and this recipe is definitely one of my favourites.

 1 l Chicken Stock
 2 Chicken Breasts (chopped)
 1 tbsp Olive Oil
 1 tbsp Soy Sauce (light)
 3 Garlic Cloves (minced)
 3 handfuls of Kale (chopped)
 2 Pak Choi (chopped)
 10 Chestnut Mushrooms (sliced)
 4 Spring Onions (sliced)
 0.50 tsp Cayenne Pepper
 1 tsp Turmeric

1

Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan. Add the chopped garlic cloves and cook until fragrant. Add the chopped chicken and sliced mushrooms and stir until the chicken is cooked (5 minutes)

2

Add the soy sauce, turmeric and cayenne pepper and stir to coat. Add the stock and bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for a further 5 minutes.

3

Add the pak choi and the kale and stir to coat. Simmer for an extra 5 minutes.

4

Take off the heat and serve in bowls with the stock. Scatter sliced spring onions on top and serve.
