Dobby was a male house-elf who served the Malfoy family. His masters were Dark Wizards who treated him cruelly. In Harry’s second year he disobeyed his masters and tried to warn Harry Potter of the plot to have the Chamber of Secrets reopened. At the end of that school year, after Harry had vanquished the memory of Tom Riddle and slayed the basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets, he tricked Lucius Malfoy into freeing Dobby. Harry accomplished this by placing the Diary of Tom Riddle inside his own sock. Lucius disgustedly ripped the sock off the book and threw the sock into the air, where Dobby caught it (In the movie the sock was inside the book).

Dobby was pleased to join the Hogwarts staff. At Hogwarts he could come and go as he liked, did not have many tasks, and those he did have were fairly simple. Dobby went on to work in the kitchens at Hogwarts, for which he was paid one Galleon a week and got one day off each month. He had been accompanied to Hogwarts by his friend Winky and so began Dobby’s new happy life nearby his closest friends: Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

Later, he went to save the lives of Harry and his companions from Death Eaters at Malfoy Manor. During this rescue he was fatally wounded by Bellatrix Lestrange’s knife during apparation. Harry dug Dobby’s grave without magic and carved into the headstone of the grave “HERE LIES DOBBY, A FREE ELF.”

House Elf Veggie Frittata

When thinking of dishes for some characters, it's sometimes a struggle trying to create something. For Dobby, I thought I'd try and create something Dobby would create for his friend, Harry Potter. Harry always had the scraps and leftovers when he was living under the stairs at the Dursley's, so I thought if I created a better more interesting breakfast then it could be a good meal.

It wasn't quite enough for a meal for Harry Potter himself, so seeing as House Elves are usually treated like servants for wizards and witches, I thought this could be a good meal for Dobby. House elves were also cooks for all the dinners served at Hogwarts.

 1 Aubergine (diced)
 1 Courgette (diced)
 1 Onion (diced)
 0.50 tsp Basil (chopped)
 0.50 tsp Oregano (chopped)
 2 tbsp Olive Oil
 2 Garlic Cloves (minced)
 4 Eggs
 50 ml Milk
 Parmesan (to garnish)

Preheat the oven to 200°C or 180°C fan. Place the diced aubergine and courgette and sliced onions on a baking tray and drizzle over some olive oil. Sprinkle the basil, oregano and some salt and pepper over the vegetables then toss to makes sure they are coated in spices and oil. Roast for 40 minutes or until the edges are browned, stirring halfway through.

When the vegetables are almost finished, add some olive oil to a skillet. Place over medium heat and add the minced garlic. Sauté for 2 minutes until fragrant. Spread the oil to the sides of the skillet.

Add the roasted vegetables to the skillet and stir to combine. Quickly whisk the eggs, milk and a pinch of salt together in a separate bowl then pour them over the vegetables in the skillet and fry for 5 minutes. Top the mixture with grated parmesan.

Transfer the Frittata to the oven either by placing the skillet in the oven (if oven-proof) or transferring the whole base to a separate ovenproof dish or tray. Bake for 30 minutes or until the eggs have puffed slightly. Once baked, remove from over and serve up slices with some salad.
