Natu

Natu

Natu is a tiny, mostly green bird Pokémon with a nearly spherical body, and accents of red, yellow and black. It possesses brightly coloured, yellow-and-red wings with thick black stripes. The wings are small and not fully-grown, thus making it unable to fly. However, it can hop and climb tree trunks. Natu has a red crest on the top of its head, and its three-toed feet and three tail feathers are red as well. Natu also has almond-shaped eyes and a yellow beak.

Natu is believed to reside in South America, although it can be found near ruins and in forests in other areas of the world. Natu usually forages for food on the ground. However, on rare occasions, it will hop onto branches to peck at the tree’s new shoots. It also picks food from cactus plants, easily avoiding the buds and spines. Due to its prophetic abilities, Natu is a very cautious Pokémon that is easily spooked. It has the quirky behaviour of staring at something until the thing moves.

Natu’s Nutritious Avocado Toast

The meal is inspired by the colours of Natu. The appearance of the Pokemon is coloured Red, Green, Yellow and Black. With this in mind, I used Avocado and Lime to spread on the toast to represent the green, fried eggs to add on top to represent the yellow, and sliced rounds of chorizo, fried and topped onto the egg for the red. I also added some fried burnt pumpkin seeds to attempt to recreate the black. The intention was to recreate a popular students meal great for lunchtimes

 1 tbsp Pumpkin Seeds
 200 g Chorizo
 1 Avocado (stoned and peeled)
 0.50 Lime (juiced)
 Coriander Leaves
 4 Eggs
 4 Bread Slices

1

In a food processor, blend the avocado, lime juice and coriander to form a spreadable substance. Meanwhile, toast the bread in a toaster.

2

Heat a frying pan. Add the pumpkin seeds and toast for a few minutes until they pop. Tip into a bowl and set aside.

3

Add the chorizo to the pan and cook for 5 minutes until its oils are released. Add the eggs into the frying pan and cook until the whites are solid.

4

Spread the avocado paste onto the toast, then add the chorizo and eggs. Scatter the pumpkin seeds on top.
