Orange is the New Black
Piper Chapman is a public relations executive with a career and a fiancé when her past suddenly catches up to her. In her mid-30s she is sentenced to spend time in a minimum-security women’s prison in Connecticut for her association with a drug runner 10 years earlier. This Netflix original series is based on the book of the same title. Forced to trade power suits for prison orange, Chapman makes her way through the corrections system and adjusts to life behind bars, making friends with the many eccentric, unusual and unexpected people she meets.
Orange is the New Black’s final season airs on 26th July and I’m looking forward to see how it ends. It’s been a great series and if you haven’t watched it yet, I recommend you do so!

Prison Macaroni Meal
I had a look online to see what kind of food Americans experience in prison and honestly it's not a glamorous life. Most of it is muck and gruel-like that I didn't really want to reproduce as a selling point to this amazing tv show. I did however find and interesting menu that showcased some interesting basic meals.
Pasta based meals tend to be a common trend across American prisons, probably because they're very easy to make. I chose Macaroni Cheese instead of repeating past recipes I've already shown on this website.
In the picture, you'll see I also added some bacon into the dish to add a bit of flavour, though I won't be including that in the recipe, to keep it prison-basic. I also added some healthy salad to the side and served the dish with a juice box and jelly pot for afters to resemble the prison look.
Preheat the oven to 220°C. Cook the macaroni according to the packet instructions in a saucepan, drain and then put back into the hot pan.
While the pasta is cooking, put the cheese, milk, eggs and nutmeg in a food processor and blitz to form a sauce.
Pour the cheese sauce over the macaroni, stir well, and season with salt and pepper to taste. (Optionally add some cooked, diced bacon too at this point)
Tip into a ovenproof dish (wide and shallow is best) and bake in the very hot oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until it is bubbling on top.
